WoW Keybindings Archives

The keybinds that you should use for raiding or 5-man heroics shouldn’t be to different from the keybinds you use for arena. However, since most classes require different specs for PvP and PvE, you might need to replace some abilities in your PvP keybinding. So, here’s a short WoW keybinds guide for raiders, providing instructions similar to the other post with instructions for PvP keybinds.

1. Just as for PvP, you shouldn’t change the movement keys. W,A,S,D should be by now, the standard movement binds in any game that you play.

2. On your 1-6 keys, use the most important instant or short cooldown abilities that are part of your rotation. Also, in case you want to simplify your gameplay with smart sequence macro that combines all your abilities in your rotation, that macro should be on your key 1.

3. The 3rd step of this short WoW keybinds guide refers AoE abilities. Especially as a DPS, sometimes you require to AoE certain trash packs of mobs. I usually bind my AoEs on Q and/or E.

4. As a fourth tag of this short WoW keybinds guide, I need to say that defensive cooldowns are necessary in raids. Sometimes you simply generate too much threat as a healer or DPS, or you need to mitigate a huge amount of damage as a tank, so your defensive CDs must be close at hand. For PvE, I usually keep my defensive CDs on direct keys, on Z,X and C.

5. Last but not least, especially as a healer or DPS, you need to have a burst macro that uses all your damaging or healing CDs. A macro like that I usually keep on a combined command, Shift+key or Alt+key.

I hope these instructions help. If not, I strongly recommend you to use this automatic WoW keybinds guide. It will instantly load up the keybindings of the pros directly into your UI and you won’t need to bother creating macros or tweaking your keybinding.

It’s almost impossible to be competitive in arena without using any macros whatsoever. Using a whole bunch of macros might not be a good idea though, because that way your actions might just become limited and your gameplay hindered. So, in this short WoW keybindings guide, I’m going to point out a few macros that you should fit into your keybinding.

The first macro that I’m going to speak in this short WoW keybindings guide refers to cooldown burning. At least one damage or healing burst macro is necessary if you want to play arena like a pro. There are moments when your team needs a damage burst, for example. So, your leader will give the order on speaker, something like “Everyone – damage burst on healer, NOW!” or something like that and that macro will help you achieve maximum DPS in a fraction of a second.

The second type of macros that I want to speak about in this WoW keybindings guide are sequence macros. Although in PvE you can use long sequence macros, which combine 6-7 abilities, in arena you must keep them short, because I have to improvise. So, don’t put in a sequence more than 3 abilities.

The 3rd type of macros that I want to mention in this brief WoW keybindings guide are stance-change macros. Especially if you’re a warrior or death knight you need to change your stances quickly. A smart macro will allow you to do that quickly.

Emote macros may also help. There are plenty of “rage-kids” that play arena and “shooting” a few emotes at them, might make them lose their cool and make mistakes. I always have a “/dance” or a “/golfclap” macro at hand to mess with people in arena.

Now, as you can see, the macros I spoke about in this short WoW key bindings guide are general macros, usable by almost any class. Depending on the class you play, you can write specific macros that will considerably improve your gameplay. Example: every hunter should use a macro to launch their traps quickly.

Also, I must mention here that if you don’t want to bother thinking up macros or creating a super keybinding for your class, here’s an automatic WoW keybindings guide that I’m sure will bring you glory in arena.

You don’t know how to build an effective key binding for arena? No problem. In this post I’m going to write a brief WoW key bindings guide that should work for any class and spec.

1. Leave your movement keys as they are: W,A,S,D.

2. Make sure you fill the 1-6 keys with the most important abilities that you use most of the time. These should be active spells, with an instant cast timer or a cooldown of a few seconds.

3. The rest of the main quick bar keys, from 7 to =, you can even leave empty, without any abilities bound on them, because those buttons are hard to reach an will only slow you down.

4. Q and E keys should also be home for 2 direct (instant) abilities, but that you don’t use so often. For example, you can fit here interruption spells, or short duration buffs, like a rogue’s Slice and Dice.

5. As a fifth step of this short WoW key bindings guide, you should choose your cooldown buttons. Now, most players fit them on Z,X,C,V,R,F,G. However you can choose to place them on the F1-F6 keys. However, those keys are a bit out of reach too, so I’d stick to the letters.

6. Down to this point, you should have a functional and also pretty effective key binding for arena. However, there’s one more step in this short WoW key bindings guide. Although you probably have slotted all your main abilities, you should have at least a few, that you normally don’t use very often or the ones with a long cooldown. For those, it’s best to use Shift+Key or Alt+Key commands.

7. The 7th and the last step of this short WoW key bindings guide, includes the “emote factor”. You’ll probably still have plenty of spots to fit in 2-3 emote macros, to annoy your opponents, make them lose their cool and focus. This is a trick that most elite players use and yes, it is effective.

I hope this WoW key binding guide helps. However, in case you don’t want to bother yourself binding all your abilities, you can get super effective key bindings automatically, using a complete, in-game WoW macros and keybindings addon.
