Very few players realize how important is to give your team direction in a battleground and to motivate your team mates. By saying the right thing as the battleground starts, chances for your team to win increase considerably. So, here’s a short WoW macro guide pointing a few ideas of what to say in every BG to give your team mates directions and motivation.

WoW Macros for Alterac Valley

Alterac Valley is one of the battlegrounds with plenty of objectives. To obtain a clear victory here, you must burn the 4 towers of the opposite team and kill the boss. That’s why I chose this BG first, for this WoW macro guide.

So, here are 2 macros with directions for both factions, Alliance and Horde:

Alliance:

/bg Grp. 1 – IB Tower, Grp. 2 – Tower Point, Grp. 3 – Frostwolf GY, Grp. 4 – FW West, Grp 5. – FW East, Grp. 6,7,8 – Relief Hut! SKIP Galvangar! Once the objectives are capped —> ALL MOVE And KILL DREK’THAR!

Horde:

/bg Grp. 1 – SH Bunker, Grp 2. – IW Bunker, Grp. 3 – SH GY, Grp 4. – SH North, Grp. 5 – SH South, Grps. 6,7,8 – Aid Station! SKIP Balinda! Once the objectives are capped —> ALL MOVE And KILL VANNDAR!

Skipping the middle captain, your team will manage to cap the rest of the objectives quicker then the opposite team, and you’ll be able to kill the final boss first, which will take you to victory.

WoW Macros for Warsong Gulch

Warsong Gulch is a less complicated battleground compared with Alterac Valley. Anyway, here’s a WoW macro guide for WSG, outlining macros on a few thing you must report:

/bg Flag Carrier is going TUNNEL!

/bg Flag Carrier is going RAMP!

/bg Flag Carrier is going GY Side!

Reporting this, the players in the middle will know where to find the opposite flag carrier and recover the flag before he reaches their base with it.

WoW Macros for PvP

Out of all slices of World of Warcraft content, PvP requires the largest number of WoW macros, for any class or spec. You simply cannot be competitive playing without any macros.

Of course, you might not be a LUA expert and probably don’t know how to write who knows what advanced macro. But, to learn how to write the most common WoW macros is not a hard nut to crack. In fact, you can reach quite a nice arena rating using just a few common macros, specific to your class, race and spec.

The purpose of this post is to give you a general and simple formula for “BURN” macros.

But first, what’s a “BURN” macro?

It’s a macro that simultaneously burns several of your major cooldowns, to achieve a high damage or burst when the time is right, to be sure that one of your opponents dies, or uses some of their important cooldowns as well.

Here’s the formula:

/cast DPS cooldown 1
/cast DPS cooldown 2
/cast racial ability (if it’s the case)
/use trinket 1

In case this general WoW macro doesn’t speak clearly enough for you, here’s an example:

/cast Empower Rune Weapon
/cast Pillar of Frost
/cast Blood Fury
/use Impatience of Youth

This is one of the WoW macros that I use on my Frost DK. After I have cleared a full bar of Runic Power on a target and that target is diseased and debuffed, hitting this macro will grant me a sweet damage burst.

I hope this post on WoW Macros helps. May your enemies perish!
